Auction sneak peak!

Our High Shoals Elementary School Family Art Night is THIS Thursday from 5:00-7:00! I am very excited to share all the beautiful art that our young artists at HSES have created throughout the year. It is a lot of work but it is definitely a labor of love. I am trying something a little different this year in an attempt to raise a little money for my art room. I desperately need a new drying rack, among other things. I am having a silent auction at the art show! Each homeroom made a collaborative piece of art on canvas and parents can try to win them by being the highest bidder. I am excited to see how this new venture goes over. Here is a little sneak peak at some of the projects. Check back next weeks for art show pictures!

  1. These are wonderful! I was wondering if you had tips for doing an art auction? Strategies for keeping down costs and creating the pieces? How much money did you all end up raising?

    1. Thanks Stephanie! I found an art catalog (I think it was Nasco) and I got the canvas for around $6 a piece. I just used materials from my class room on the art so that was the only expense. I have done the auction 2 years now and both years I made right at about $1,100 after the expense of the canvas. They went for $25 to $110, depending on how bad parents wanted them. Most of the projects were collages where they made something independently and glued their part to the canvas. Every kid contributed something to the canvas. They had other projects going on at the same time. I hope that helps!
