Students in second grade were focusing on the elements of art. They used a stamping technique with scrap cardboard to create their robots and painted them with tempera. I love how quirky and fun they all turned out. Here are some of my favorites and the current hall display. Enjoy!
Very cool lesson. I like the display too, so I posted a link on my art bulletin board blog. I hope you don't mind. http://bulletinboardstoremember.blogspot.com/2012/09/mr-roboto.html

I love this idea! I'm an art teacher as well and would love to borrow your lesson! Would you mind briefly explaining what the stamp technique was? I don't have a blog, but I'm going to pin this and link it to your website.
ReplyDeleteHi Ruth!
ReplyDeleteI cut up cardboard boxes in to different size rectangles. I put black tempera paint puddles on a tray and they dipped the edges of the cardboard in the paint and stamped the shapes to create the robot. We discussed geometric shapes and how their robots would be mostly geometric shapes. They then painted with bright colors on the next class times whent the black paint was dry. I hope that helps!
